Disturbing Noises, Mark Spybey

Tone generation: Mark Spybey re-dubbet the video and the sound it contains based on his individual view and interpretation of the entire topic. Mark Spybey, whenever I think of him, I first remember a certain incident. We were just driving from a previous concert in Berlin to a new gig in Hamburg. Mark sat on the back seat in the back of the car and read out the word combinations and puns he had newly invented and translated from a German dictionary (wherever he got it) for the entire journey from Berlin to Hamburg. These include, among other things, the statement, “Willst Du mit mir in einer Diskothek gehen?” This went on for the entire car journey with a lot of things. We just couldn't stop laughing. Yes, I always remember that first. But actually I met him during the Can Solo Live projects tour. He played with Michael Karoli’s Sofortkontakt in their part. I got to know him through our mutual friend Stephen Collins, as far as my English skills allowed. But somehow the “chemistry” was right in the opinions about what should be done and how. At the time I was busy with our show "czukay/gvoon:magazine" with Holger Czukay, his wife U-She and Stephen Collins. Later, maybe a year later, Stephen Collins helped organize the National Poetry Slam Festival in Chicago, where Mark Spybey with Dead Voices on Air and I performed with the Gvoon project band on one evening. That was actually the last contact with Mark. We didn't meet again in real life, but I at least observed his actions throughout the years. I worked on this entire project for almost 12 years and more or less disappeared from the public eye because I was solely occupied with the work on this project. About a month ago I wrote to Mark asking if he could imagine doing the sound work for a video work using what defines him as a person. I actually expected it to take a long time to get an answer. Somehow I was a little shocked that after two minutes had just passed, Mark immediately said yes, which made me more than happy.

In Berlin, after the concert there in the Columbiahallen with Can, Stephen Collins and Mark stayed overnight in my former studio in Wedding. It was bitterly cold and the two of them had to stay warm while sleeping with old coats and blankets. I couldn't remember it myself, but Mark has now written me what he can remember. In Hamburg, I now remember, the two of them also stayed overnight in our apartment in Hamburg after the concert there with Can. There was a huge propeller in the apartment and Mark then gave me a handmade CD of his that also said propeller on it,,,

This black rubber cell designed and built by the Stasi, which was designated by the GDR State Security as a reassurance holding room, exists far down in reality as a real one Room 2 in the Basement floor of north wing (cell block) of the former central detention center (UHA) of the Ministry of State Security (MfS) of  the German Democratic Republic (GDR), today's Memorial in Berlin-Hohenschönhausen.

The Stasi's black rubber cell serves as a space in the "Inside" project as a kind of metaphor for all the other spaces in the world that have been turned into places, into which people are brought into an exceptional situation, determined by unscrupulous others, in which those affected are left to fend for themselves are provided,,,

All works on the project "Inside" by Gvoon (Global Visions of other Natures) from the interior of a black rubber cell of the Stasi, which Arthur Schmidt transferred to another location completely identical to the original in the actively operated state of 1981, the year of meticulously rebuilt from his own imprisonment, is part of coming to terms with his own experiences and dealing with people's empathetic behavior.
